Top 10 Spring 2008 Trends

Martini Toast to the Top 10 Spring 2008 Trends!

Spring is almost here, so start pushing your winter gear to the back of the closet and make room for these fabulous picks....

A return to polished, ladylike dressing. Fashion Martini presents it's top 10 picks for the Spring. Can you guess which trend is represented by each number?

1) Rompers. Bet you didn't see it coming. Well the Forties vibe is on. Silks & romper baby!.
Show a little leg this season. Designers are taking the classic romper and giving it a shot of high style for a sexy effect.

2) Sexy layering with sheer pieces are hot, hot, hot! Light trenches & belts on top of jackets was seen all over the Spring 2008 Runway shows.

3) Prints with BOLD pops of color! Designers are going earthy for spring, using ikats, tie-dyes and pops of color on woven natural material.

4) Gladiators, Gladiators, Gladiators....strap up and find your inner gladiator!

5) Tribal . You'll notice that designers explore tribal territory for Spring 2008.

6) Off the shoulder tops/dresses AND ruffles, ruffles, ruffles! Designers are adding fancy ladylike touches such as lacy accents and gentle ruffles.

7) Floral Prints hit big. The tropical is now topical. Designers ventured into the rain forest for spring, coming up with wildly stylish numbers with vacation worthy patterns.

8) Puff love. During the recent collections, a number of designers channeled a dreamy fairy tale vibe. We're seeing lots of balloon inspired dresses with emphasis on the bottom or top.

9) Oversize Clutches. Everything is BIGGER and BETTER for 2008.

10) Safari...think expedition chic....as the mission designers explore safari pieces.

Who we spotted rocking these trends:

From left to right: Ashlee Simpson, Mandy Moore, Mischa Barton, Charlize Theron, Fergie.

If you would like to know the Designers behind any of the looks in this weeks blog or where to purchase, you know what you have to do...BLOG US.

In order to show you how to pull these Spring looks together, we have some inspirational looks below for you to use as a guide.

The above PRINT looks are called ikat. The exotic flavor of these prints will be really hot for the Spring. Ikat is a style of weaving that uses a resist dyeing process similar to tie-dye on either the warp or weft before the threads are woven to create a pattern or design.

The left and right look above are tribal inspired dresses. The middle look is a gray-tone leopard-print silk romper. This is a more sophiscated romper look.

Jackets with Belts....trust us, you will see this look. Just when you thought belts were sooo last year, there're back and stronger than ever. You'll see more skinny belts. The first look also has the gentle ruffle vibe going on. The second look has the puff bottom. Moving to the third look, you see the amazing oversize clutch! The last look is a Safari look with guess what....GLADIATORS! We are so obsessed with the gladiator sandals.

The above looks are none other than Floral Prints. Each lady above rocks this look with poise and confidence.

The first two looks were inspired by ruffles. What a ladylike flair! The third look has a sheer tribal vibe. Remember, SHEER will be big this spring. The last look has resurfaced from the past (as they all do) with an off the shoulder vibe.

Have you ever wondered what are the most expensive JEANS in the world? We bet you would never guess they were made by a FAMOUS purse designer.

Gucci’s "Genius Jeans" is the most expensive jeans in the world, they debuted in October 1998 in Milan, and were priced at an astonishing $3,134.00 U.S. dollars.

Last week poll results are here. Let's see who has Bagging Rights!

The number 1 handbag ranked by familiarity among luxury consumers is Coach. Following is Louis Vuitton, then Gucci. Fashion Martini is not shocked that only one person selected Coach. However, we would like to know who you are. Can you please blog us because you have just earned Bagging Rights!

Until next week, CHEERS!

Layering with Scarves!

Martini Toast to Love Quotes Scarves!

Photos above are taken from PinkMascara.com

Scarves are one of the hottest accessory right now. Love Quotes scarves have been seen on Jessica Alba, Hillary Duff, Lindsay Lohan & Ashlee Simpson. Each Love Quotes scarf is accompanied by an inspirational quote from Mother Theresa.

Who we spotted rocking this trend:

Carmen Diaz (left) & Keri Russell (Right)

You can purchase Love Quotes scarves at pinkmascara.com or shopintuition.com . Love Quotes scarves will become a staple piece in your wardrobe. The Italian linen scarves can be worn with just about any outfit – and they come in just about every color! 10% of the proceeds are donated to international children’s charities.

Also, you don't have to go out and purchase the love quotes, see the celebs below with other scarves that look just as hot!

Jessica Alba (left) & Rachel Bilson (right)

Take the scarf and fold it in half. Once you complete that step, you should have an open loop at one end. Take the open loop and place it by the middle of your next. Now take the other end and pull through the open loop you created. Fluff and Go!

You can wear this look indoors as well as outdoors. Take it anywhere, to the mall, a sports game, or hanging out with the girls...just about anywhere. You can't go wrong with a scarf to complement your outfit. This is what we call "sexy layering".

Besides being wrapped around your neck, these adorable scarves can also be worn as a wrap around the shoulders or around the hips.

Ever wondered why Christian Louboutin decided to make the soles of his shoes red? Well, he got the idea from one of his employees. One day he saw his employee putting red nail polish on, and instantly, he felt that it would be pretty to paint it on the shoe sole. Since then it became the signature of his shoes.

Let's all have a Martini Toast to the following Fashionistas who celebrate their Birthdays this month!

This spring you will see a return to polished ladylike dressing! Come blog with us next week...we will be showcasing Spring 2008 trends!!! You don't want to miss it...Remember, you must stay ahead of the game. Until next week, CHEERS!

New Year, New You, New Style, New Blog!

Happy New Year! Your New Year’s Resolution should be to elevate your style to the next level and Fashion Martini Weekly is going to help you do that. Logging on to our blog WEEKLY will keep you abreast of up-and-coming fashion trends and designers as well as keep you in the know with what's HOT now!

It's all about being fashion forward...staying one step ahead of the game at all times. This philosophy bleeds into everyday life as well (on your job, in your relationship & with your finances). Life is all about change and so is FASHION so you must keep up with the changes so you don't look dated. Our motto is: "You have to live so why not live in Style!".

The look above is from Michael Kors Spring 2008 Ready-to-Wear Collection. We love it because it's a timeless look! Black usually equates to timelessness. Every woman should have staple pieces in their closet such as (1) a black dress (2) a clutch purse (3) a cashmere sweater or wrap...by the way...CAPES are what's hot now (4) Mary Jane shoes, (5) a pair of dark class act denims, and (5) a pair of statement eye shades.

The "IT" thing is vintage pieces. Go VINTAGE this year. Being trendy is just soooo regular, sooooo expected. A fashion taker (think of a risk taker) goes for the unexpected. Go for a unique mix of timeless pieces with a trendy edge. Too trendy comes across as too cheap looking and pieced together. Effortless style is what you should go for. For 2008, go for classically trendy looks that are naturally stylish and creatively chic. Less is more for 2008 but GLAM your look up with accessories!!!! Bring on the bangle bracelets, gold chains, and statement watches.

Above all, remember that knowing who YOU are is the TREND.... BE YOU, not someone else!
