Top 10 Spring 2008 Trends

Martini Toast to the Top 10 Spring 2008 Trends!

Spring is almost here, so start pushing your winter gear to the back of the closet and make room for these fabulous picks....

A return to polished, ladylike dressing. Fashion Martini presents it's top 10 picks for the Spring. Can you guess which trend is represented by each number?

1) Rompers. Bet you didn't see it coming. Well the Forties vibe is on. Silks & romper baby!.
Show a little leg this season. Designers are taking the classic romper and giving it a shot of high style for a sexy effect.

2) Sexy layering with sheer pieces are hot, hot, hot! Light trenches & belts on top of jackets was seen all over the Spring 2008 Runway shows.

3) Prints with BOLD pops of color! Designers are going earthy for spring, using ikats, tie-dyes and pops of color on woven natural material.

4) Gladiators, Gladiators, Gladiators....strap up and find your inner gladiator!

5) Tribal . You'll notice that designers explore tribal territory for Spring 2008.

6) Off the shoulder tops/dresses AND ruffles, ruffles, ruffles! Designers are adding fancy ladylike touches such as lacy accents and gentle ruffles.

7) Floral Prints hit big. The tropical is now topical. Designers ventured into the rain forest for spring, coming up with wildly stylish numbers with vacation worthy patterns.

8) Puff love. During the recent collections, a number of designers channeled a dreamy fairy tale vibe. We're seeing lots of balloon inspired dresses with emphasis on the bottom or top.

9) Oversize Clutches. Everything is BIGGER and BETTER for 2008.

10) Safari...think expedition chic....as the mission designers explore safari pieces.

Who we spotted rocking these trends:

From left to right: Ashlee Simpson, Mandy Moore, Mischa Barton, Charlize Theron, Fergie.

If you would like to know the Designers behind any of the looks in this weeks blog or where to purchase, you know what you have to do...BLOG US.

In order to show you how to pull these Spring looks together, we have some inspirational looks below for you to use as a guide.

The above PRINT looks are called ikat. The exotic flavor of these prints will be really hot for the Spring. Ikat is a style of weaving that uses a resist dyeing process similar to tie-dye on either the warp or weft before the threads are woven to create a pattern or design.

The left and right look above are tribal inspired dresses. The middle look is a gray-tone leopard-print silk romper. This is a more sophiscated romper look.

Jackets with Belts....trust us, you will see this look. Just when you thought belts were sooo last year, there're back and stronger than ever. You'll see more skinny belts. The first look also has the gentle ruffle vibe going on. The second look has the puff bottom. Moving to the third look, you see the amazing oversize clutch! The last look is a Safari look with guess what....GLADIATORS! We are so obsessed with the gladiator sandals.

The above looks are none other than Floral Prints. Each lady above rocks this look with poise and confidence.

The first two looks were inspired by ruffles. What a ladylike flair! The third look has a sheer tribal vibe. Remember, SHEER will be big this spring. The last look has resurfaced from the past (as they all do) with an off the shoulder vibe.

Have you ever wondered what are the most expensive JEANS in the world? We bet you would never guess they were made by a FAMOUS purse designer.

Gucci’s "Genius Jeans" is the most expensive jeans in the world, they debuted in October 1998 in Milan, and were priced at an astonishing $3,134.00 U.S. dollars.

Last week poll results are here. Let's see who has Bagging Rights!

The number 1 handbag ranked by familiarity among luxury consumers is Coach. Following is Louis Vuitton, then Gucci. Fashion Martini is not shocked that only one person selected Coach. However, we would like to know who you are. Can you please blog us because you have just earned Bagging Rights!

Until next week, CHEERS!

Thanks for the up on the spring tends, however, I am NOT feeling those gladiators. Hope they go away on the quick. The rompers are not for me either. I do look forward to rocking the other trends, though. (Pushing the winter stuff way back)

Like "passion4fashion" I am not feeling the rompers.( Soomethings aren't for everybody, body being the operative word). However I am likin' the gladiators. I think with the right outfit they could be HOT!!! Especially with some of the new trends I think gladiators are going to be a much needed accessory to everyones closet. And Hey ladies!, lets not be afraid to step outside the box a little bit. Normal is whats expected its different that stands out! And to derive from last weeks tip: You must always be ready to step your game up to stay ahead of the game"!!!
Good Job Martini Flair, until next week---CHEERS!!!!

I'm with "q t pie" because I love that black dress too!!! I feel great knowing that belts are stronger than ever too! It really makes my waist look small! I'm not really into the gladiators yet, it may be one of those things that may grow on me. Who knows, but we'll see! Thanks for the updates!!! TTFN, see you next week:-)

What do you think of the new bags that are coming out with the 2 straps. It seems to be the new trend. On Saks.com it says: Hand held or shoulder style....opt of the bag that goes both ways!" And I have noticed that alot of designers are making bags like that this season. At first I wasn't quite feelin them but as I looked at more style I kinda like them! What do you think? I'd like to see the weekly post about the 2 way chic bags!!!! And I'm sue fellow bloggers would like to know if Fashion Martini thinks it's a hot or not!!

Hand held or shoulder style....wow...a great look!
We're all about accessories with OPTIONS!! Options equates to more wear. We are really feeling this trend. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We may actually feature this trend in our upcoming blog post. We will definitely put this trend on our next week poll.

The spring trends are hot, but I'm not sure about the gladiators. I do like the rompers have seen alot of celebrities rockin 'em already. Not sure how they would look on me but I will try'em.

The models and their dress are beautiful though this is from last 2008 spring trend. I think you should change the color of the text because it blends with the background image, maybe you should use light colors like white.
