Over the knee boots...Catch them while they're on sale!

What: Over the knee boots

Who we spotted rocking this trend:

Who rock it best? Mariah, J. Lo, or Rihanna ?

Where should you wear this look?
You shouldn't wear this look to work, unless you work in the fashion industry. Even then, it may be a bit too much for working. You can pull this look off day or night. Try wearing this look at Happy Hour!

How should it be worn?
We recommend this trend when trying to spice up a very simple dress or even with dressy shorts! However, we don't recommend sunglasses with this look.

I just love your fashion advice...i love the look with the high over the knee boots with the shorts..im going to try that this weekend..i can wait to read fashion martini next week to see what ideas you have for fashion.im all for the fashion...i have a question. When is it good to wear your shades....i love that look but find it hard to know what to wear with them. Thanks...windymarie

Thanks for blogging Windy…to answer your question: Shades are definitely the IT fashion statement however; you should wear them when the season permits. As a rule of dumb, if you have on a jacket and tall boots, it's obviously cold and there is probably no sun to be found. In this case, stay away from shades. You will usually find a celebrity in shades no matter what the season is but that is only because they are hiding from the paparazzi . The only exception to throwing on your shades if it’s not sunny is (1) if your eyes are puffy or (2) your eyes are red for some reason or the other. In this case, you get a season pass!
Spring is slowly approaching so you can pull out your shades and sport them with long dress (like the Michael Kors look in the posting on 1/11/08.
One other fashion no-no…please don’t wear shades in a dark club. Besides running into people because you can’t see them through the shades, it just comes across as “trying to hard” to be in style. The key is effortless style….if you have to think twice about what you have on, pull it off.

I luv the look of the over the knee boot, I am wondering what type of pants can be worn with them. Shorts are so "summerish".

Thanks for blogging Passion4Fashion:

To answer your question, your other options would be straight leg pants/jeans or tights. You can wear the tights under a chic sweater. BTW (by the way), if you wear your shorts with tights, you totally bypass the summerish look.

Also remember, true trendsetters don't follow rules, we create them (smile). Therefore, shorts are not just for summer just as White is not just for before Labor Day.

Ok I luv the over the knee boots, but my problem is that I think I may be too short to pull this look off. I'm about 5ft and think the boots may make my legs look even shorter. What do you think?

Brwnsuga, you can still do tall boots if you are short..the trick is that you must show some legs when you are short. So you will need to do boots with a really short dress, that way it looks as if you have more leg.

Also, your boots should hit right below the knee instead of above the knee.

Cheers!
